Yoga for Joyful Living Retreat

This weekend retreat is the perfect opportunity to dive more deeply into the ancient and transformative practices of yoga, allowing you to peel away layers of tension and stress in your body and mind to reveal your calm centre.

Open to all abilities, this retreat is small and intimate with a maximum of 12 participants, so there will be plenty of opportunities for personal guidance from Jackie.

Flowing vinyasa yoga, intuitive movement and sound meditations all become more real and alive when we are fully immersed in the natural cycles of our mindful breath. This weekend will be a joyful celebration of the body and breath, allowing you space to find your calm centre among the transformative colours of autumn.

About the Venue

Hill Cottage Retreat Centre is located in the Marches of mid-Wales, near Knighton in Powys. The aim is to create a tranquil space where individuals can reflect, be creative and interact with others and the environment in mutually beneficial ways.

Set in ten acres of land it includes an independent market garden, young orchard and woodland, natural swimming pond, gardens for contemplation and wildflower pastures bordered by a meandering brook.

Accommodation is spread between 3 beautiful purpose built eco cabins. Spacious twin rooms complete with kitchen, bathroom and living area made cosy with a wood fired stove. Single rooms are accessed by ladder to the crog loft. A new building was completed this summer that houses four single rooms and a separate dining area.

There is plenty of outside space to discover, with secluded places to sit by the natural pool or in the woodland.

Each weekend is unique and the format is open to change. You can attend as much or as little as you like:


  • 4pm – 6pm arrival

  • 6pm Yoga posture class – to relax and unwind from your journey

  • 7pm Dinner

  • 8.30pm Introduction and guided meditation


  • 8am Morning Yoga and pranayama

  • 9.30am Breakfast

  • 10.30am – 12pm Workshop on chosen theme of weekend

  • 1pm lunch

  • 2pm – 4.30pm Relaxation time: naptime, reading by the fire, walk in the countryside

  • 4.30pm Gentle posture work and pranayama followed by guided deep relaxation

  • 6.30pm Dinner


  • 8am Morning Yoga and pranayama

  • 9.30am Breakfast

  • 10.30-12pm Workshop

  • 1pm Lunch

  • 2pm Farewell

Getting There


By Car From Knighton

Turn onto Presteigne Road/B4355 after 1.7 miles turn right onto B4367 signposted to Whitton. Take the first right, sign posted Rhos-y-meirch (just beyond the phone box). On this single track lane you will pass a grey metal shed which will alert you to look carefully for the next left hand turning which is obscured from view until you are beside it. Take this next left and finally turn left onto Hill Cottage track.

By Public Transport

We can pick you up from and return you to Knighton Railway Station or Kington (Herefordshire) Bus Station, by arrangement.
